“I’ve been waiting a long time to see my picture in the paper!”
Ann Marie Hess, 88, of Jamestown, ND, died April 27th with her family close by.
She was born at the family home in Dolton, SD on March 12, 1930 to Helen Elizabeth (Lambertz) and Herbert Lyle Bailey. She graduated from high school in Emery, SD. On November 10, 1952, she married Cliff Hess, the love of her life. They raised their family in Jamestown. Ann worked at Bostwicks, the Elks Club and Conlin’s Furniture. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church.
During retirement Ann stayed busy traveling, dancing, playing cards, doing crafts (if she saw something she liked, she would run home and make it), sewing, painting pictures and working at Frontier Village while she also loved greeting guests that came from all over the world. She also enjoyed working at May’s House, Frontier Village.
Ann recently stated: “I’ve had a long time recently, to sit and think how God has been so good to those of us who live in America” and “I want to thank God for my four beloved sons.”
Ann is survived by her sons Brad, Omaha, NE, Keith (Karen), Jamestown, Jeff, New Market, MN, and Todd, Fargo, ND; a brother, Ron (friend Jeanette), Gardner, KS; an uncle, Orville Lambertz, Sioux Falls, SD; special friend of 24 years, Lester Hazer and his family; eight grandchildren: April (Corey Walkin) Hess, Doug (Aubrey) Hess, Crystal (Eric) Koepplin, all of West Fargo; Nicholas Hess, Erica (Tom) Feher; Adam Hess; Loren (Joseph) Kucinski; Lindsay (Brandon) Reed; and 9 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Kashus, Atticus, Mabel, Pax, Dex, Aleiah, Brooks and Charlotte.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff, of 37 years, a sister, Karen Bailey, and a great-granddaughter, Arianna Hess.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 AM, Friday, May 4th, 2018 at the St. James Basilica in Jamestown with Monsignor Wald officiating.
Visitation:
4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 3rd, 2018 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial:
Calvary Cemetery.
