Arlene Schlecht 86, of Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away on Friday, September 18th, 2020 at the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown.
Arlene was born to Jacob and Mathilda (Mueller) Hofmann on July 10th, 1934. She graduated from Medina Public High School. On December 30th, 1953, Arlene married Alvin Schlecht. Alvin and Arlene operated a grain and dairy farm southeast of Medina. In 2012 they retired and moved to Jamestown.
Arlene’s pastimes were gardening, biking, walking and reading. She enjoyed cooking for groups at the Crystal Springs Bible Camp for several years. Arlene was actively involved in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher and ladies aid. She was also active in the local Homemakers Club.
Arlene is survived by her children, sons Bruce (Cynthia), Medina; Daniel (Kerrie), Bismarck and David, Scottsdale, AZ; her daughters Roselyn (Keith)Huber and Tami (Dave)Hanson, Valley City. Grandchildren Tyrel Schlecht, Cedrick (Kari)Schlecht, Austin Schlecht, Emma Schlecht, Whitney (David)Franz, CeAnn (Jacob)Thompson, Devin (Marissa)Hanson, Christian Hanson. Great-Grandchildren Angela Schlecht, Derek Franz, Katie Franz, Tyler Franz, Cohen Thompson, Crosby Thompson and Felix Hanson. One brother Don (Lillian)Hofmann and three sisters-in-law Lois (Richard), Jackie (Eugene) and Bari (Edwin). Many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, sister Vera (Elmer)Heupel and brothers Albert (Margaret), Wilbert (Nyra), Ervin (Jewel), Richard, Edwin, Ray and Eugene.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26th, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Medina, ND. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral service. Burial will be in the Medina Cemetery. Covid guidelines will be followed. Masks will be required.
