Chris H. Schatz, 78, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, June 9, 2005 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Chris H. Schatz was born January 17, 1927 south of Medina, North Dakota, the son of Chris and Rose (Riester) Schatz. He grew up on the family farm and received his education in rural schools and Medina High School. Chris entered the US Army on March 28, 1946 at Ft. McClellan, Alabama and was stationed at Camp Carson, Colorado until being discharged as a private first class on September 27, 1947. He returned to the family farm to help his father and brother until he married Lillian Lachenmier on June 25, 1948 in Medina. They farmed in the Medina area until 1959 when they moved to Cleveland, ND. They lived in Cleveland for 8 years before moving to Jamestown, ND. Chris was an excellent painter, decorating many homes for 23 years. He also worked for the North Dakota State Hospital, Jamestown until retiring in 1992. Lillian died on April 26, 1976. Chris married Anna Mae Brash in 1987 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown. They made their home in Jamestown while he enjoyed fishing, attending auction sales, and collecting John Deere and wildlife items.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Eagles, Jamestown, and a charter member of the Cleveland Wildlife club.

Chris is survived by his wife, Anna Schatz of Jamestown; one daughter, Linda (James) Boatman of Jamestown, ND; one son, Randy (Jolene) Schatz of Ft. Collins, CO; five grandchildren, Mark Boatman, Becky Boatman, Ryan Schatz, Derek Schatz, and Talli Schatz; one great-grandchild, Braydon Schatz; and two sisters, Emma Hillius of Medina, ND and Helen Riedlinger of Hazelton, ND.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian; daughter Lori Ann; one brother, John Schatz; and four sisters, Susie Riedlinger, Tillie Weixel, Elsie Grenz, and Hanna Ebel.

Funeral Service: 10:00AM, Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating.

Visitation: 1:00PM to 7:00PM, Monday, June 13, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7:00PM, Monday, June 13, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown.
