Elda Ruff

Elda Ruff, 84, Jamestown, ND went home to be with her Savior at 10:00 PM on October 30, 2013. She was ushered into Heaven with her family surrounding her singing the hymns she loved so much.

She and her husband, Morris, were joined in marriage on June 27, 1948 at the First Baptist Church of Lehr, ND. Elda was born January 26, 1929 in Lehr, where she spent her formative years and attended school. When she graduated from high school she taught school for one year in a one-room schoolhouse northwest of Lehr. After her marriage, she raised four children, worked at Montgomery Ward from November 1963 until April 1978. She also worked at J.C. Penney from November 1979 until December 31, 1990 when she retired.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Jamestown, for many years where she served in many capacities. She was a very caring and compassionate person who always put the needs of others before her own. It was the simple things in life that brought her the most joy. She loved playing games with her family and sharing food and fellowship.

Above all, Elda was absolutely devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ, and His great love that would await her at her passing. She was loved greatly and will be missed tremendously.

Elda is survived by her husband, Morris, of 65 years; four children, Beverly (Dr. Peter) Fischer, Ann Arbor, MI, Charlotte (James) Walden, Cedar Park, TX, Arlen (Rene Bryan) Ruff, Mandan, ND and Doreen (Roy) Meyer, Monticello, MN; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Aitken, Quartzsite, AZ; one brother, Clarence Becker, Victorville, CA; two brothers-in-law, Joe Gross, San Mateo, CA and James Ruff, Lehr, ND and two sisters-in-law,Vi Ruff, Bismarck, ND and Gladys Becker, Lead, SD.
