George M Dahl

George Meryl Dahl, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and faithful servant died on September 16, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife, LoAnn. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, sons, Hans (Katie), Stephen (Maggie), Jon (Lisa), Joe (Cara) and daughters, Angie (Jonah), and Suzanna. George loved his grandkids: Lars, Joren, Finley, Oliver, Jonathan, Lucy, Abram and Baby Koll due in November, and loved spending time with his extended family.

George was born in Aberdeen, SD on May 11, 1946 and adopted by Mary and George Dahl. He grew up in Breckenridge, MN where a deep love for music began and led him to Concordia College where he sang in the Concordia Concert Choir. Upon graduation in 1968, he followed a call to ministry and enrolled at Luther Seminary. While at Luther, he met LoAnn Lundby, and the two headed off to Japan where they served as missionaries. While there, they were married on August 8, 1970. Upon returning from Japan, George graduated from Luther Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree and would go on to serve as pastor at Dovre Lutheran Church (Osnabrock, ND) and Atonement Lutheran Church (Jamestown, ND). LoAnn died in December of 1983. George married Sue Halvorson in 1985 and George went on to serve First Lutheran Church (Sioux City, IA), Martin’s Lutheran Church (Casselton, ND), and First Lutheran Church/Trefoldighed (Battle Lake, MN). Throughout his ministry, he exuded the unconditional love of Jesus Christ, was passionate about God’s grace and loved to share his unwavering faith through music. On August 12, 2000, George married his love, Nancy. Together, they loved to welcome family and friends into their home. Their marriage was grounded in a deep love for the Lord and their family.

The family would like to thank Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice and Eventide’s Special Care Unit for the care they provided to George and his family in George’s final days.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Victory Lutheran Brethren in Jamestown, ND.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
