Marty E. Thoen

Martin E. ""Marty"" Thoen, 70, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo.

Marty was born September 17, 1935 in Horace, North Dakota, the son of Maurice and Carrie (Stenberg) Thoen. He received his education in Kindred, ND graduating in 1953. Marty entered the US Army on September 29, 1955 and was discharged on May 23, 1956. He married Lila Radermacher on August 21, 1961 in Casselton, ND. He worked at several jobs as a sales representative since they moved to Jamestown in 1967, where their home as been since that time. He was a mail carrier in New Rockford, ND just prior to his retirement. They spent several winters at Rancho Mirage, California.

Marty enjoyed traveling, golfing and crossword puzzles. He was a member of the Jamestown Country Club and a lifetime member of the Jamestown Elks.

Marty is survived by his wife, Lila of Jamestown; one son, Scott Thoen, Charlotte, NC; three daughters, Linda (Scott) Lieswald, Southern Pines, NC, Amy (Jon) Knecht, Mapleton, MN and Nancy Thoen, Jamestown; three grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Lieswald and Aubrey Knecht; two sisters, Carol Stoll, Athens, GA and Donna (Bob) Haggerty, Pequot Lakes, MN and one brother, Ellert Thoen, Mesa, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Algene; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and his father-in-law, William Radermacher.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown with Father Al Bitz officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Casselton Cemetery, Casselton, North Dakota
