Raymond Nelson, 89, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Raymond Nelson was born the son of August and Effie (Schoeler) Nelson on October 3, 1916. Raymond attended Corrinne rural school and Courtenay High School, Courtenay, ND. He worked in Courtenay Ford Garage. Raymond joined the U. S. Army in 1942 and was medically discharged in 1943. He began a trucking business of his own.
Raymond married Mildred D. Etter on December 27, 1943 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Wimbledon, ND. They made their home in Wimbledon where he worked as a mechanic. They later moved to Fargo, ND where he worked for Melland's Inc. and Case Implement. They returned to Wimbledon where he opened his own repair service. They moved to Tioga, ND to work in the oil fields. In 1968, they moved to West Fargo, ND where he worked for Dan's Oil and in 1969 was disabled at work. After retiring they remained in West Fargo for several years, then moved to Jamestown in 1991 where they lived until entering Hi-Acres Manor in 2005.
Raymond is survived by four daughters: Mary Lou (Greg) Hazard, Cooperstown, ND; Patricia Ann (Byron) Volk, Fargo, ND; Charlene (Ron) Perleberg, Jamestown and Connie (Kenny) DeLair, Buchanan, ND; six grandchildren, Leanne Hazard, Eric, Darren and Tyler Perleberg, Brad (Sheila) Klose and Shannon DeLair; three great-grandchildren, Paige, Reiley and Sierra Klose; two sisters, Dorothy Severn, Edmunds, WA and Harriet Kemp, Seattle, WA; brother-in-law, Willis (Donna) Etter, Hysham, MT; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Backer, Jamestown, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Mildred; and a son, Robert Ray Nelson.
Funeral Service: 10:30AM, Monday, January 2, 2006 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND with Father Joseph Barrett officiating.
Visitation: Sunday, January 1, 2006 from 1:00PM to 8:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Vigil: 7:00PM, Sunday, January 1, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Burial: St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Wimbledon, North Dakota.
