Sophia Lillian Lang, 98, Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of the Jamestown and Cleveland area, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Lancaster Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Sophia Lillian Wohl was born November 27, 1909 near Jamestown, North Dakota, to Peter and Magdalenea (Staiger) Wohl. She grew up in the Cleveland/Jamestown area. She married John F. Lang from Cleveland, ND in 1928 where they worked and raised five children. In 1994, Sophia moved to Lincoln, Nebraska.
Sophia was a very hard working, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She worked as a Veteran Sun Reporter for 7 years, the Red Cross, and owned & operated a restaurant and coffee shop in Cleveland, ND for many years. She was known for her delicious home cooked meals, and especially her kuchen. Sophia was known most of all for her wonderful fun filled spirit and welcomed friends and family from all over the country in to her home on a daily basis. She was a great story teller, her memory was fantastic, she knew all the states and their capitols even into her later years. She enjoyed sports and her friends and family. She brought out the best in everyone who knew her. She is an icon that will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
She was a member of the Cleveland Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Sophia is survived by her children: Jerome (Ramona) Lang, Lincoln, NE, Corrine Johnson, Wahpeton, ND, Arnold Lang and John Lang, both of Dunnellon, FL; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and two sisters, Alice Branson, Santa Rosa, CA and Lorraine Wolff, Abilene, KS.
She was preceded in death by her husband; youngest child, Charlotte Van Eperen; two grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Jamestown, ND with Pastors Allen Myers and Darren Purdy officiating.
Visitation: 2:00 to 7:30 PM, Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Spring Burial: Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, North Dakota
