Wallace R. Everson, 85, Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers disease.

Wallace "Wally" Randolph Everson was born August 26, 1928 on the family farm near Walum, ND, the son of Edwin W. and Sylvia L. (Brumberg) Everson. He was one of 14 children, 7 boys and 7 girls. Wally grew up on the family farm and attended school in Walum and Dazey, ND, graduating from Dazey High School. Wally loved horses and broke and trained many horses for family and others. He took part in many rodeos in the area with his brothers and sisters in the late 1940's. Wally was an excellent cowboy, carpenter, painter and mechanic. He worked on the "Minute Man Missiles" in ND during the 1960's.

Wally served in the US Army from May 8, 1953 until May 1955 when he was honorably discharged. He served in the US and Alaska as a paratrooper. He received his training at Airborne Infantry Regiment at Ft Campbell, KY.

Wallace married Evelyn A. Montman in 1961 in California. She died in 1980 in California, Together they had one son, Kenneth. In 1985, Wallace married DeLila Himmerich Rasmusson in West Fargo, ND.

Wally also worked at United Airlines at the San Francisco Airport, for 13 years as a mechanic and painter. While he was with United Airlines he traveled to many places, which included every state; Paris, France; Madrid, Spain; London, England; Mexico; Bahamas and Jamaica. After moving to Glenvil, NE in 1985, Wally was a self-employed painter and carpenter. He was also custodian at the church he attended for 8 years where his wife, DeLila also assisted him.

Wally played "Santa Claus" for many years at the nursing home, which he enjoyed tremendously. People told him they had never seen a dancing Santa before. He also did a lot of volunteer work and was faithful to the Red Cross and through the years donated 6 gallons of blood.

Wally enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, music, dancing, singing, and having coffee with family and friends. He was also an excellent cook!

In April 2010 Wally and DeLila moved to Jamestown where their home has been since. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown and the American Legion.

Wallace is survived by his wife, DeLila Everson, Jamestown; one son, Kenneth Everson, Hettinger, ND; two stepsons, Gerry Rasmusson, Phoenix, AZ and Kevin Rasmusson, Gilbert, AZ; five step grandchildren, Karla, Matthew, Sara, Christina and Kolton; three brothers, Leonard (Marilyn) Everson, Clay Center, NE, Lawrence (Anna) Everson, Bowdon, ND and James (Jeanne) Everson, Puyallup, WA; five sisters, Marion Johnson, Hannaford, ND, Carol (John) Thompson, Nebraska, Edna Gunn, Colorado Springs, CO, Norma Olson, Cooperstown, ND and Irene (Sid) Grande, Wellton, AZ; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Everson, Hannaford, ND and Paulette Everson, Valley City, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Evelyn; three brothers, John, Robert and Ralph; and two sisters, Thelma Rondestvedt and Virginia Rondestvedt.
