Wayne C. Deery, Sr.

November 26, 1943 — December 14, 2015

Wayne Clifford Deery, Sr., 72, Jamestown, ND passed away peacefully Monday, December 14, 2015, at his home under Hospice Care and in the caring presence of immediate family.
Wayne was born on November 26, 1943, the son of Clifford and Mary (Cichos) Deery. He attended Washington Grade School, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1961. He attended North Dakota State School of Science returning to Jamestown for a short stint with Burlington Northern Railroad before persuing a career he truly enjoyed, advertising, with the Jamestown Sun. He departed from the Jamestown Sun in 1990 to join Newman Signs, a family he respected and a business adventure he cherished. Wayne fulfilled twenty-five joyous successful years as an Account Executive for the Newman business and family
Wayne was a member of the North Dakota Tourism Alliance Partnership, a Member of the North Dakota Petroleum Marketers Association and on the Board of Directors of the North Dakota Retail Association (held the position of Secretary). Wayne continued to work in an advisory role for Newman Signs up until his death.
Wayne married Judith Rae Traiser, December 1, 1962, and had two sons, Corey Michael and Wayne Clifford, Jr. Wayne was a big proponent of Jamestown and belonged to several organizations including: Jamestown Quarterback Club, Jaycees, Kiwanis, Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, Elks, Eagles, Knights of Columbus, Hillcrest Men's Association, Jamestown Country Club, Ducks Unlimited and Stutsman County Wildlife Club. He especially enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed the many hunting, fishing, and golf trips with his family members and friends. Wayne also enjoyed golfing and the great outdoors . . . God's gift to all of us.
Wayne is survived by his compassionate lovely wife of 53 years, Judy Deery, Jamestown; two sons, Corey and Lori, Kaiserslautern, Germany and Wayne Jr., Jamestown; four caring and lovely grandchildren, Joshua, Chicago, Brittney and Ashley, Kaiserslautern, Germany and Dustin, Jamestown. Equally blessed with three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Zoey and Nicholai all from Kaiserslautern, Germany. His mother, Mary (Cichos) Deery; brothers, Charles "Chuck" and Dee Deery, Grand Forks, William "Bill", Jamestown, Clifford Jr. "CJ" and Patty Deery, Fargo; sister, Annette and Rick Haugen, Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford John Deery.
Wayne was a good man, a family man, an honest man, a proud man, a compassionate man, a humorous man, and a dedicated business man. He enjoyed a gathering of Family and Friends and truly embraced togetherness, happiness and joy.
He was courageous throughout his battle with pancreatic cancer and continually shared with family and healthcare staff, "I will never ask, why me? I will never ask, how much time do I have?" Wayne maintained that strength and dignity up until he closed his eyes peacefully for the final time with this Stage of Life, on December 14th, 2015. Wayne would prefer we Rejoice in his Life versus dwell on the Sorrow of his Passing. Find the happy moment you had with Wayne and rejoice.
