Ada Genevive Joos

Ada G. Joos, 97, formerly of Wimbledon, ND, died Monday, July 7, 2008 at home in Palm Springs, CA.
Ada was born April 16, 1911 in Bowdon, ND. She was the daughter of William and Emma Mae (Hopkins) Green. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Bowdon, ND. Ada married Robert H. Joos on October 23, 1933 in Moorhead, MN. They lived and farmed near Wimbledon, ND until 1949, when Allan H. Joos took over the family farm and they retired to Wimbledon, where Robert ?Bob? died in 1962. Ada was a member of St. John?s United Methodist Church, Wimbledon, then Epworth United Methodist Church, Valley City, ND and was involved with the United Methodist Women?s groups in Wimbledon and Valley City and served as ?Worthy Matron? in the Eastern Star. Ada moved to Willis, TX in the 1970?s and then moved to California in 1994, became a member of First United Methodist Church of Reseda and then transferred to United Methodist Church of Palm Springs, where she lived with two granddaughters (Alana and Janna Joos) until her death.
During her married years, Ada and Bob enjoyed their Spiritwood Lake cottage, fishing, traveling, hosting family reunions and spending time at their winter home in Corpus Christi, TX. Some of her favorite trips included going to The Holy Land and traveling with Francis Conklin in their motor home around the United States.
While living in California, she enjoyed tending to her garden of strawberries and vegetables, her numerous friends at Golden Age and her weekly visits to her favorite Chiropractor, Dr. Bert. Ada?s life was blessed with lots of friends, both young and old, and she will be sorely missed by all.
Ada is survived by her sister Blanche Coffman, El Monte, CA; one step-son, Allan H Joos, Wimbledon; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five of her siblings (Dorothy, Leonard, Gladys, William and Leone); three step-sons David, Lorne and Grant; two step-daughters Charlotte and Lillie Mae and one great grandchild.
Funeral service: 10:30 AM, Monday, July 14, 2008 at St. John?s United Methodist Church, Wimbledon, ND, with Pastor Jeff Levy officiating.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.
Burial: Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon, North Dakota.

A memorial and remembrance service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Reseda, CA at 1:00 p.m.
