Adolph Oakland

October 8, 1920 — February 21, 2005

Adolph Oakland, 84, Jamestown, North Dakota, formerly of Bisbee, North Dakota died Monday, February 21, 2005 at his home in Jamestown.

Adolph was born October 8, 1920 in Howell Township, near Rock Lake, North Dakota the son of Torjus and Bertine (Gabrielson) Oakland. He grew up and attended school in the Rock Lake and Bisbee area. Adolph attended a school for welding in Milwaukee, WI. Upon his return to the Bisbee area, he started farming. On December 19, 1942 he married Margaret Nelson in Bisbee. They farmed in the Bisbee area until their retirement. They moved to Jamestown in August of 2004.

He was a member of the Bisbee Lutheran Church. Adolph enjoyed visiting with everyone and was very active in the Bisbee Senior Citizens. He also liked to hunt and trap. He was a family man, loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Adolph is survived by his wife, Margaret, Jamestown, three sons, Rick (Ilse) Oakland, Coos Bay, OR; Larry (Dee) Oakland, Ronan, MT and Jerry (Cindy) Oakland, Jamestown, one daughter, Carol (Roger) Hofstad, Andover, MN, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gunder and Olaf.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, February 25, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor Memorial Chapel, Jamestown, ND, with Chaplain David Fisher officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.
