Agnes Berge, 89, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Ypsilanti, ND, died peacefully at her home in Jamestown on Wednesday, January 3, 2007.
Agnes Clara Janz was born December 26, 1917 to Carl and Lena (Weichert) Janz at home in Manns Township near Montpelier, ND. She was baptized and confirmed in Lutheran faith in the Montpelier Lutheran Church. As a young girl she moved with her parents to Corwin Township where she attended rural school. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1935. Following graduation she did housework for different families. On November 19, 1939, she married Earl Berge in Jamestown, ND. They settled on the Berge farm in Ypsilanti, ND which they later purchased and farmed for many years. Earl died on August 25, 1999. Following his death she moved to Jamestown and recently moved to the Heritage Center.
Agnes was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND. She enjoyed hobby club, crafts, crocheting, quilting, gardening and baking.
Survivors include 6 children: Pat (Gary) McDaniel, Bismarck, ND; Linda (Russell) Senne, Bismarck, ND; Cheryl (Norman) Lien, Bismarck, ND; Karen (Kenneth) Baeth, Marion, ND; Kathie (Bryce) Arneson, Fargo, ND; Lenus Berge, Ypsilanti, ND; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law: Charlotte Whipple and Florence Janz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 sisters, 1 brother and a daughter-in-law, Linda.
Funeral - 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Reverend Rich Fitzer officiating.
Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with family members present from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
