Agnes Dammel, 83, Medina, North Dakota, died Monday, November 19, 2007 at MedCenter One Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.
Agnes Eissinger was born July 3, 1924 on the family farm near Medina, the daughter of Adolph and Barbara (Moser) Eissinger. She was confirmed at the Kassel Church north of Medina. Agnes felt privileged to attend high school in Medina and graduated in 1942. She attended Valley City State College for two years, earning her teaching degree. Her first teaching job was in Napoleon teaching first grade. Agnes married Reinhold J. Dammel on June 25, 1945. They lived on the family homestead south of Crystal Springs for 35 years. She taught all eight grades at Crystal Springs School, then took time off to raise her family. She later returned to teaching at Tappen, North Dakota. In 1980 they moved to Medina where they built a new home. Reinhold died January 22, 2000.
Agnes was active in the Medina Lutheran Church, served on several community activities and went on many trips, including a trip back to the Ukraine, her home land. She was a member of the ALCW, choir and Altar Guild. Agnes enjoyed sewing, ceramics, gardening, painting figurines and visiting with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her coffee club and the Red Hat Ladies.
Agnes is survived by a daughter, Corene Geffre, West Fargo, ND; three sons, Terry (Linda) Dammel, Medina, Bruce Dammel, Jamestown and Jeffrey Dammel, Fargo, ND; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Sandy) Eissinger, Medina; a sister-in-law, Clara McLoud, Tacoma, WA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one grandson; a son-in-law, Roy Geffre; two sisters, Vivian Gaustad and Mae Whitmer and two brothers-in-law, George Gaustad and Jim Whitmer.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, November 23, 2007 at English Lutheran Church, Medina, ND, with Pastor Chris Hogstad officiating.
Visitation: 2:00 to 5:30 PM, Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 5:30 PM, Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel in Jamestown.
Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, North Dakota.
