Alan Nannenga

December 9, 1949 — October 22, 2011

Alan August Nannenga, 61, the son of August Helmer and DeVine (Jeske) Nannenga, born December 9, 1949, passed away October 22, 2011, at the Kindred Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Alan graduated high school in Buchanan, ND. He attended college for a short time, but returned home to farm. On April 4, 1975 he married Susan (Tompkins) Falk. They operated their dairy farm in northwest Jamestown until 1993. He then worked at Dakota Growers Pasta Company for 11 years then became owner/operator of a trucking company until the time of his illness in the spring of 2011.

Alan was an amazing dad. To everyone that knew Alan, he will always be remembered for his practical jokes and his unbelievable sense of humor. He took great pride spending time with his grandkids Stacia, Brian, Andrew, Jaydon, Wyatt, Zackery, Jace, Cole, and Caitlin. He took enjoyment in telling many stories about his experiences he encountered throughout his life. Alan?s most influential moments revolved around his grandchildren. It was Alan?s love of well prepared food that always lured him to his mother-in-law?s place during such occasions. Alan was always willing to go the extra mile to support his children in their endeavors. The many scenic pictures of his travels reassured his love of adventure of the outdoors. Reading, building computers, astronomy, hunting, fishing and processing his own sausage with the help of his children were just a few of his hobbies.

He and his endless phone calls will be greatly missed by everyone.

Alan is survived by three daughters, Stephanie Nannenga (Jayson VanEaton), Lindsey Nannenga (Jerry Steinmetz), both of Jamestown, Jamie (Bill) Steinmetz, Sheldon, ND; two sons, Ryan (Angela) Harwood, ND and Travis Nannenga Jamestown; seven grandsons and two granddaughters; one sister Janice (Virgil) Francis, Wilburton, OK; two brothers, David (Debbie) Nannenga, Otis Orchards, WA and Larry (Cathy) Nannenga, Jamestown, ND; friends Daniel and Susan Falk of Jamestown.
