Albert Iszler, 91, Edgeley, ND, died Monday, May 22, 2006 at his home in Edgeley, ND.
Albert Rudolph Iszler was born October 31, 1914 on the family farm in McIntosh County near Ashley, ND the son of Gottlieb and Kathrina (Nitschke) Iszler. He was raised on the farm and attended the rural country schools. After his schooling, he moved to Washington where he worked at an apple orchard. He entered the United States Army and served in Germany during World War II and participated in the Normandy Invasion. Following his discharge, he returned to North Dakota and farmed near Danzig with his father and brother. On November 14, 1948, he married Adeline Miller at Ashley, ND and they settled on a farm near Ellendale, ND. They lived and farmed near Ellendale until retiring in 2005, when they moved to Jamestown, ND. After Adeline died on March 1, 2006, Albert moved to Edgeley, ND to be near his daughter and family.
Albert was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND, American Legion Post 137 and the VFW Post 3545 both of Ellendale.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Iona (Edward) Pasqual, Waltham, MA; Nancy (James) Mock, Fargo, ND; Marlane (Arnie) Middlestead, Edgeley, ND; a son, Richard Iszler, Rockford, MN; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Esther Brevetti, Lodi, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers: Gottlieb, Otto, Jake; and 6 sisters: Mary, Emma, Vivian, Ida, Edna and Kathryn.
Funeral - 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND with Reverend Alan Eppen officiating.
Visitation - 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Interment - Sunset Memorial Garden, Aberdeen, SD
