Alexander ""Alex"" Nitschke, 90, Jud, North Dakota died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, North Dakota. Alexander was born December 18, 1912 near Jud, North Dakota, the son of Gotlieb and Christine (Fregien) Nitschke. He farmed with his brother until his marriage to Helen Gerdes on November 23, 1947. They bought a farm southwest of Jud where he farmed until his retirement. He was supervisor of Raney Township Board for 15 years and was treasurer of Raney School Board for nine years and later served on the Jud School Board. He is a charter member of the Jud Lions Club. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served on the church council for many years and also served as church treasurer.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, two sons, Wayne Nitschke, Jud and Robin (Adeline) Nitschke, Jud, one daughter, Mylene (Don, Jr.) Lee, Jamestown, two granddaughters, Michelle (Tim) Martin and Sherry Lee, both of Jamestown, one great-grandson, Preston Martin, Jamestown, one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Nitschke of Jud, two step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Norman, and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, April 7, 2003 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Sunday, April 6, 2003, Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Jud, North Dakota.
