Alice Ackerman

Alice Ackerman, 95, Elk River, Minnesota, formerly of Jamestown, died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the Guardian Angel's Care Center in Elk River. Alice Bertha Eastman was born November 21, 1907 to Charles & Ida Eastman at their farm home in Winfield Township. She grew up and was educated in the local one room country school. In 1921, the Eastman family moved to Rose Township. When Alice was 14, her mother died and she kept house for her father and two brothers.

Alice married Clarence E. Ackerman on January 1, 1930 at the Methodist Church parsonage in Spiritwood, ND. They farmed in Rose Township until retirement in 1980. She lived in Jamestown after Clarence's death in 1984 and moved to Elk River, MN to be with her daughter after her son's death in 1999.

Alice was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Central Dakota Village for many years. She was a member of Wesley Circle. Her favorite leisure activities included Bible study, sewing, playing her piano and crossword puzzles. Although she spent her last years in Minnesota, her heart remained in North Dakota, where she lived for 91 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Gerry (Duane) Rehnke, Elk River, MN and one daughter-in-law, Olive Ackerman, Pueblo, CO, six grandchildren, Gary (Linda) Rehnke, Sartell, MN; Melody (Terry) Steinert, Parker, CO; Diane (Phil) Larson, Republic WA; Faith (Bill) Mullen Pueblo, CO; Greg Rehnke, Elk River, MN and Jay Rehnke, Mt. Prospect, IL, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many dear friends in ND and MN and we cherish her memory and the love she generously gave to all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Rev. Curt Ackerman and two brothers.

Memorial Service: 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 12, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dick Boyd officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

Burial: Spiritwood Cemetery, Spiritwood, North Dakota.
