Alma Heupel

March 6, 1918 — August 8, 2011

Alma L. Heupel, 93, Jamestown, ND, died Monday, August 8, 2011 at Triumph Hospital in Fargo, ND following a brief but intense illness.

Alma Lydia Fauth was born March 6, 1918 in McPherson County, near Eureka, SD, the daughter of Henry and Albina (Meidinger) Fauth. She received her education in McPherson County, SD, and attended beauty school in Minneapolis, MN. On June 26, 1946 Alma married Arnold Heupel in Eureka where together they ran a café and farmed. Alma also started the Beauty Nook, which she owned and operated for 35 years in Eureka and later in Aberdeen, SD where they moved in 1971. Arnold died on April 5, 1980 and Alma moved to Jamestown in 1991, where she has since made her home.

Alma was an active member of United Methodist Church teaching Sunday school and serving on various church committees. Much of her time was also spent working with local Veterans Auxiliaries. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, enjoyed discussing politics, and collected and restored antiques. But certainly her most enjoyable time was spent watching and participating in her grandchildren and great grandchildren?s activities.

Alma is survived by a son, Steven (Barbara) Heupel and daughter, Barbara (Ken) Mickelson, both of Jamestown; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lenora Raile, Eureka, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Otto; and one sister, Ella Oster.
