Alma Sophie Vilhauer

Alma Sophie Vilhauer, 95, Jamestown, North Dakota died Friday, May 1, 2015 at Eventide Jamestown. Alma was born February 17, 1920, in Hosmer, SD to August and Anna (Jundt) Vilhauer. She lived on the family farm, while attending a rural school, completing the 8th grade. On August 31, 1945, she married Helmuth Vilhauer. They farmed in the Hosmer, SD area. Helmuth died in April 1972, of stomach cancer. Alma moved to Jamestown in October 1972. She did cleaning for Liechty Mobile Homes and for others. She also did babysitting. She loved to travel to visit her family, grandchildren and her siblings. She had a stroke in September 2003. Alma could no longer live alone, so she moved a few blocks away to live with her son, Oscar and Judy. She continued to travel with assistance to spend time with her other children. After having another stroke on August 1, 2013, she entered Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown. She loved having visitors, especially from her grandkids and great-grandkids. They could make her smile and laugh. She loved her church family too. She was a member of Jamestown First Assembly of God. Alma is survived by her four children: Lester (Shirley), Bismarck, ND, Oscar (Judy), Jamestown, ND, June (Dwight) Bishop, Glendive, MT, Lyle (Laurie), Chandler, AZ; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold (Lillain) Vilhauer, Fargo, ND; 4 sisters, Luella (Reiny) Deutscher, Jamestown, ND, Olga (Valentine) Rueb, Jamestown, ND; Delores Curtis, University Place, WA, Geraldine (Gene) Engen, Lakewood, WA; sister-in-laws, Eva Vilhauer, Aberdeen, SD, Marion Vilhauer, Federal Way, WA, Ramona Newcomb, Oklahoma City, OK; brother-in-law, Melvin (Nancy) Vilhauer, Chippewa Falls, WI and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 16, 2015 at First Assembly of God, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Jeff Wiedenmeyer and Pastor Darrell Losing, officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, May 15 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, May 15 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Ashley Cemetery, Ashley, ND.
