Alois Kudrna, 83, of Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 in Jamestown, ND.
Alois "Al" Kudrna was born July 16, 1926 at Dickinson, ND the son of Louis and Mary (Bren) Kudrna. He was raised and attended school in South Heart, ND. After graduating from South Heart High School, he attended Dickinson State College. Al served in the U. S. Army from November 15, 1944 until his discharge on August 6, 1946. Following his discharge he returned to South Heart. On January 11, 1949, he married Edith Privatsky at St. Mary's Catholic Church at South Heart.
Al worked for the US Department of Agriculture in Dickinson and Valley City and in 1962 was transferred to Jamestown. He retired on August 14, 1982 because of ill health, after 30 years of Federal Service.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter Brenda (Brian) Smith, Jamestown, ND; a son, Brian (Jill) Kudrna, Savage, MN; 4 grandchildren, Justin (Cassandra Lee) Smith, Mandan, ND; Briana (Shaun Schafer) Smith, Jamestown, ND; Kayla and Jack Kudrna, Savage, MN and many nieces and nephews. He is the last surviving member of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Al was a member of St. James Basilica, the Jamestown American Legion, VFW and the Knights of Columbus. Al enjoyed his grandchildren, reading and playing cards.

Rosary: 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Visitation: Noon to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services in the church on Monday.
Interment: 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
