Alvin Schlecht

June 25, 1931 — February 15, 2016

Alvin Schlecht, 84, of Jamestown North Dakota, passed away on Monday, February 15, at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Alvin Schlecht was born to Rudolph and Magdalena (Gunsch) Schlecht on June 25, 1931. He graduated from Medina Public High School. In 1953 Alvin was drafted into the Army and served as a Military Policeman at Fort Hood, Texas. Alvin married Arlene Hofmann later that year on December 30, 1953. Following his discharge from the Army in 1955, Alvin and Arlene operated a grain and dairy farm southeast of Medina. In 2013 they retired and moved to Jamestown.
A favorite pastime was watching the Minnesota Twins baseball team and basketball on TV. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, the harmonica, and admiring old cars. Alvin was also actively involved in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church and served on the Chicago Township Board.
Alvin is survived by his wife Arlene, sons Bruce (Cynthia), Medina; David, Gilbert, AZ and Daniel (Kerrie), Bismarck; daughters Roselyn (Keith) Huber, Valley City; Tamara (Dave) Hanson, Wyndmere. Grandchildren Tyrel Schlecht, Jamestown; Cedrick (Kari) Schlecht, Haughton, LA; Whitney (David) Franz, Radcliffe, IA; CeAnn Huber, Fargo; Devin (Marissa) Hanson, Detroit MI; Christian Hanson, Sioux Falls, SD; Austin Schlecht and Emma Schlecht, Bismarck. Great grandchildren Derek Franz and Katie Franz. One brother Gideon and two sisters Alvina (John) Broste and Leona Moser.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Walter, Reuben and Clarence and sister Hilda Limbacher.

Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Thursday, February 18, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Medina, ND. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 17, at Eddy Funeral Chapel with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the Medina Cemetery.
