Alvin R. Widmer, 72, of Jamestown, ND died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND.
Alvin was born February 10, 1935 in Alfred, North Dakota, the son of Reinhold and Bertha (Lippert) Widmer. He received his education in rural Alfred Schools. He married Alice O'Brien, June 23, 1956 in Valley City, North Dakota. He was employed by Midwest Motors, Midland Railroad, and Everetts Associates in the Jamestown area. He also worked for American Linen and Jamestown Public Schools. He was a member of the St. James Basilica, Knights of Columbus, Jamestown Eagles, Buffalo City Camping Club, Circle Cross Riding Club and the James Valley Quarterhorse Association.
His hobbies included camping, horses, dancing and listening to country music.
Alvin is survived by two sons, David (Carrie) and Neil (Angie), both of Jamestown, ND; two daughters, RaMona (Vic) Johnson, Glyndon, MN and Lori (Monty) Whitney of East Grand Forks, ND; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Perszyk, Perham, MN and Elaine Reimers, Palmer, AK.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son; one brother and one sister.
Funeral Mass: 2:00 PM, Friday, October 12, 2007 at the St. James Basilica with Father Al Bitz officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Thusday, October 11, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Vigil: 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the James River Humane Society or Meals on Wheels.
