Alvina E. Schmunk

January 7, 1925 — August 22, 2006

Alvina E. Fagering Dahlstrom Schmunk, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota was born January 7, 1925 and left this earthly life on August 22, 2006. She was the seventh child born to Alfred and Karen (Paulsen) Fagering on the family farm near Pettibone, ND.

1942 was a very important year in Alvina's life. She graduated from Pettibone High School in May, then married her high school sweetheart, Leland Dahlstrom, in June. They later divorced, but remained close friends. Alvina later met and married Walt Schmunk. He died in 1989 and Alvina returned to Jamestown in 1994.

Alvina worked in a variety of positions. She was a clerk at the B & O Drug Store in Jamestown, owned a toy store in Lincoln, NE and she and Walt managed large apartment complexes in the Phoenix, AZ area.

Among Alvina's favorite things in life were cooking, baking, crafts, dancing, dogs, wildlife and being with her grandchildren. She loved having friends and family over and they always felt at home.

Alvina is survived by her daughter, Carol (David) Christ of Sun City, AZ; one grandchild, Sarah (Peto) Chavez, Surprise, AZ; a step-son, Stan (Joyce) Schmunk, San Diego, CA; a step-daughter, Audrey (Mark) Fredstrom, Phoenix, AZ; three step-grandsons; two step-granddaughters; two sisters, Mary Bullis Hoyt, Jamestown and Leone (Glen) Stenberg, Bismarck, ND and a brother-in-law, Erling (Margaret) Botnen, Bismarck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, four sisters, Ingrid Radtke, Julia Botnen, Sylvia Botnen and Carrie Molgard and brothers-in-law, Bob Bullis and Don Hoyt.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
