Anna Knutson, 88, Jamestown, N.D. died Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at Central Dakota Nursing Home in Jamestown, N.D.
Anna Nelson was born April 4, 1914 in Willow Bank Township near Edgeley, N.D., the daughter of Lauritz Lathrop Christian and Magdalena Kristine (Jessen) Nelson. She received her education in Willow Bank Township, graduating from Edgeley High School in 1932. She attended and graduated from Ellendale Normal School with a teaching degree in 1934. She taught in Deer Lake Township north of Cleveland and other schools in the Cleveland area.
Anna married Samuel Julius Carlson on June 23, 1936 on her parent?s farm near Edgeley, N.D. They made their home in Cleveland, N.D. Samuel died on November 18, 1965.
She married Oscar Knutson on October 18, 1968 in Cleveland, N.D. They moved to Jamestown, where their home has been since. Oscar died on January 13, 2000.
Anna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, Past President of Civic Music; Past President of the Jamestown Fine Art's Center; member of the Retired Teacher's Association and several other organizations. She enjoyed playing in bridge and pinochle clubs.
Anna is survived by four sons, J (Norma) Carlson, Cleveland, N.D.; Nelson Carlson, Jamestown, N.D.; Lenus (Keum Shin) Carlson, Berlin, Germany; Kern Carlson, Jamestown, N.D.; four grandchildren, (John, Sam, Kendall, and Leslie); three great grandchildren, (Jae, Sam, and Alvie); two brothers, Lewis (Dorothy) Nelson, Edgeley, N.D.; Emil (Marion) Nelson, Edgeley, N.D.; one sister-in-law, June Nelson, Edgeley, N.D.; five step children, Gerald Knutson, Fargo, N.D.; Norman Knutson, Pingree, N.D.; Phyllis (Delno) Kleinknecht, Pingree, N.D.; Barbara Knutson, Jamestown, N.D.; and Debbie Evans, Grand Forks, N.D. She was preceded in death by her parents, lst husband (Samuel J. Carlson), 2nd husband (Oscar Knutson), a granddaughter (Ann Carlson Reutter), a brother (Clarence Nelson), a twin sister (Leona Musland), and one brother-in-law (Melvin Musland).
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. - Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, N.D., with Rev. Terry Anderson officiating.
Visitation: Friday, November 15, 2002 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, N.D.
Burial: Cleveland Cemetery - Cleveland, N.D.
