Anton Litt

Anton ""Tony"" Andrew Litt, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.

Tony was born January 16, 1917 in Shaw, Oregon, the son of Joseph and Barbara (Allerdings) Litt. He grew up in the Bismarck area and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Bismarck in 1935. From 1937 to 1941 Tony worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Co. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps on January 5, 1942 and was a airplane mechanic crew chief and a flight maintenance gunner. He obtained the rank of Corporal and was discharged on December 7, 1945. When he returned to North Dakota he worked for Montgomery Ward for a year, then he owned and operated Litt Sewing Machine Service for 50 years. He also worked at the Jamestown Post Office for 20 years. Tony married Maydris Thelma Torkelson on April 2, 1948 in Jamestown. She passed away on February 3, 1992.

Tony was a founding member of the Jamestown Choralaires and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. He enjoyed singing, photography and electronics and sang at many funerals and weddings.

Tony is survived by six children, Gary (Marilyn) Litt, Moorhead, MN; Lynnae (Pat) Bergman, Jamestown; Barbara Davis, Jamestown; Debra (Wayne) Bjugstad, Edgeley, ND; Julie Lange, Jamestown and Joseph Litt, Grand Forks, ND, 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Joseph Peter Litt, Bismarck and Leo Henry Litt, Denver, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Maydris, one son, Dennis, a brother, Herman and three sisters, Mary Glaser, Anna Marie Glaser and Helen Deloi.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Monday, December 20, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Terry Anderson officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 19, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
