Archine Hoffer

July 1, 1937 — January 8, 2019

Archine D Hoffer, 81, of Jamestown, ND passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019. Archine was born July 1st 1937 to Jacob and Pauline Hoffer. He was raised on his family farm four miles north and one west of Streeter. He received his education in a one room school house north of the farm and finished his high school years in Streeter in 1955 and attended Wahpeton State School of Science.

Archine married Madelyn Dewald in 1958 and they were proud partners in a father son farm with his parents. They moved to Jamestown in 1981 working for Western Gear, Pillsbury Elevators and Redlin Johnson Insulation Siding and Windows until his retirement in 1999.

During retirement Archine found his love for bicycling and was known around town as the “Guy on the Bicycle” being recognized in several newspapers and tv stations.

He participated in many century rides across North Dakota and into Canada while averaging 2,500 miles a year. Archine was proud of his German heritage and enjoyed sharing his ancestry with his family and friends. Archine enjoyed giving back to his community doing many things including 4-H Leader, Jamestown Youth Boxing Program, Patient Advocate at High Acres Nursing Home and donated over 12 gallons of blood with United Blood Services.

Preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Pauline Hoffer. Survived by his loving wife, Madelyn; sons Joel (Cindy) from Lawton, OK and Cletis from Eden Prairie, MN; grandsons Peter and Philip Hoffer; Granddaughters Jacqueline (Jake) Bertram, Laura and Alexa Hoffer; great grandchildren, Michael and Christine Bertram; Sister, Leona Hoffer-Iszler and many nieces and nephews.

Archine was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His smile and spirit live on in the hearts of people who knew him. Visitation Friday 4:00 to 7:00 pm with Reverend Ted Dewald conducting the 7:00 PM Prayer Service at Eddy’s Funeral Home. Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Saturday January 12 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND.
