Arlene Rusch Murphy

Arlene Murphy, 76, of Jamestown, ND died Saturday, March 1, 2003 in Jamestown.

Arlene Rusch was born September 2, 1926 in Jamestown the daughter of Al and Helen (Nielsen) Rusch. She grew up in Jamestown and received her education at St. John's Academy, graduating in 1944. Arlene attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks for 2 years. She married Ed Murphy on January 7, 1948 at St. James Catholic Church in Jamestown. They made their home in Hastings, NE where she was a cosmetics salesperson for Schweser's Department Store. Ed died on May 5, 1993 in Hastings.

Arlene moved to Jamestown and was an active member of the Stutsman County Memorial Museum and the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown; a member of Catholic Daughters in Hastings, NE; a volunteer for the Buffalo Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, Jamestown; and had a passion for golf.

Arlene is survived by two daughters, Helen Jean (David) Wells of Denton, TX and Laura (James) Bolin of Rockford, MI; one son, Michael Rusch Murphy of Rogers, AK; four grandchildren, Jason, Adrienna, Brendon, and Ashley; and one sister, Charlotte (Charles) Krauth of Jamestown, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral Mass: 10:30AM - Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, with Father Robert Smith officiating.

No Visitation scheduled.

Burial and Memorial Service will be at a later date at Parkview Cemetery - Hastings, NE.

Memorial may be sent to the Stutsman County Memorial Museum or a charity of choice.
