Arlie Rud, 86, Jamestown, North Dakota passed away November 10, 2015 at Ave Maria Village Nursing Home, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Arlie Rud was born July 12, 1929, in Fargo, ND to William and Lydia (Wold) Rud. He attended school in East Writing Rock, rural Fortuna, ND up until the 8th grade where he then worked on the family farm before entering the U.S. Army in 1951. Arlie served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953 at Fort McCoy, WI. He moved to Jamestown after he was discharged and later married Rose Fenner Thomas on July 28, 1972. They resided in Jamestown where Arlie worked as a self-employed carpenter; a trade he learned from his father. Arlie and Rose moved to Pingree in the mid-1980's. During their time in Pingree, Arlie drove truck for M&M Trucking, Buchanan, ND, Pingree Elevator, and Gabor Trucking, Detroit Lakes, MN. He also worked at Thomas Motors for many years and served as the mayor of Pingree. He enjoyed watching westerns, fishing, playing cards, building things and spending time with family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.
Arlie is survived by his wife, Rose, Jamestown; one step-daughter, Peggy (Fred) Hillen, West Fargo, ND; one daughter-in-law, Alice Thomas, Pingree, ND; one sister, Lois Huwe, Crosby, ND; 6 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a few nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-son Duane Thomas, grandson, Lonnie Hillen and infant grandson, Shane Hillen.
Funeral service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 14 at Pingree Lutheran Church, Pingree, ND with Deacon Candyce Wick, officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, November 13 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, November 13 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Pingree Cemetery.
