Arnold K. Miller, 82, of Jamestown, North Dakota, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Arnold Miller was born July 26, 1922 in Woodworth, ND, the son of Burton and Velma (Barnard) Miller. He grew up and attended school in Woodworth. Arnold joined the Civil Conservation Corp. in the late 1930's, then entered the US Army on October 19, 1942 at Ft. Snelling, MN. Arnold served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater during WWII, and was discharged on November 11, 1945 at Camp McCoy, WI. He married Betty Flaherty on May 12, 1946 in Jamestown. They lived in Grand Rapids, MN, then returned to Jamestown where he worked 34 years for the Northern Pacific Railroad. They owned and operated the NP Steakhouse and A&B Hilltop Haven in Jamestown. They moved to Ypsilanti, ND and Arnold retired from the railroad in May 1984. Betty died on March 25, 1991.
He was a member of the Jamestown Eagles and American Legion.
Arnold is survived by his two daughters, Connie Loy of Chokio, MN and Sharon Smith of Denver, CO; one daughter-in-law, Susan Miller of Denver, CO; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Norma Jean (Vernon) Reich of Jamestown; and one brother, Lawrence ""Dick"" (Cordy) Miller of Sheboygan, WI.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two sons, Rodney (in infancy) and Gary Miller; two sons-in-law; three brothers, Howard, Hank & Melvin; and two sisters, Alice & Esther.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota
