Arthur Bertsch

Arthur Bertsch, 91, New Rockford, ND, formerly of Robinson, ND died Thursday, February 5, 2004 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford. Arthur was born January 18, 1913, in Progress Township near Bowdon, ND, the son of Christ and Lydia (Suckut) Bertsch. He grew up and attended school in Progress Township in rural Bowdon. He married Wilma Hawkins on April 16, 1938 in Steele, ND. They moved to the family farm in 1940 where Art became owner. He farmed until 1972, when they retired and moved to Robinson, ND. Wilma died September 17, 2001.

Art was a member of the United Methodist Church of Robinson and the Robinson Lions Club.

Arthur is survived by one son, Doug (Debra) Bertsch, of Hoople, ND, five daughters, Sharon Hirchert, of New Rockford, ND, Karen (Milton) Hirchert, of Robinson, ND, Sharlowe (Danny) Hanson, of Robinson, ND, Cheryl (Doug) Hoornaert, of Cooperstown, ND, Caroyl (Dennis) Koenig, of New Rockford, ND, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one sister, Hazel Schlenker, of Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wilma, two brothers, William and Robert, one sister, Amanda Bertsch, five grandchildren, Donna & Kevin Hirchert, Dwight Hoornaert and David & Duane Hoornaert, and one-in-law, Norman Hirchert.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at the United Methodist Church, Robinson, North Dakota with Pastor Perry Schnabel officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday, February 9, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Robinson Lutheran Cemetery, Robinson, North Dakota.
