Arthur E. Brosz

Arthur E. Brosz, 78, Jamestown, North Dakota, died in his home March 11, 2003. Mr. Brosz was born at the home farm in German Township Dickey County south of Kulm, ND, the son of John and Emily (Haase) Brosz. He attended rural school through eighth grade. He attended Kulm High School, graduating as an honor student in 1942. He attended Iowa State University, Ames, IA, then returned home to help his parents on the farm. Art was a member of Hoffnungsfeldt Congregational Church near their farm. He was Sunday School Superintendent, Lay Leader and sang in the choir. He was manager of the Whitestone Battlefield Baseball team. He married Betty Lou Krueger on June 17, 1951. They remained on the Brosz farm until 1957 when the family moved to Lead, SD where Art worked in the Homestake Gold Mine. The family moved to Jamestown in 1958. Art worked for Agsco Co., then he worked for Al Leapaldt Construction Co. where he was the foreman. He retired in 1990. After retirement Art continued using his carpentry skills with many projects, including an addition to their home.

Art was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown. He loved the Lord and doing

work in his church , serving as church treasurer, administrative board chairman and delegate to the annual conference. Art was active with Boy Scout Troop 100. Art was also active in the Germans from Russia Heritage Society, serving as a board member of the International Board and president and board member of the local James Valley chapter. He also sang with the German Heritage Singers which was organized in the Brosz home.

Art enjoyed being outdoors especially nurturing their roses and garden. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and other activities with his children, grandchildren and friends. He enjoyed reading and watching sporting events. Art and Betty loved traveling, taking trips to the Holy Land, Germany, Florida, Arizona and many other places.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Betty; daughter, Julie (Kevin) Wayne, Jamestown; son Timothy (Lynda) Brosz, Bismarck; daughter Roxane (Russ) Madio, Florida; six grandchildren, Justin & Chelsey Wayne, Kristi Brosz, Christopher, Jordan & Alexander Madio; one sister-in-law, Lydia Brosz; godchild Cathy Borgie; niece, Sherri Christensen and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edwin & Adolph and sister, Annie Christensen.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM - Friday, March 14, 2003 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald C. Crippen officiating.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM - Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM - Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
