Arthur F. Jensen, 99, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Ave Maria Village Nursing Home, Jamestown, ND.
Arthur was born October 6, 1910 in Winfield Township, North Dakota, the son of Herman and Isabel (Lee) Jensen. He attended school in Spiritwood and Jamestown, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1929. Arthur worked on his uncle's farm before joining the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934. Later he worked as a radio repairman and bricklayer before enlisting in the US Navy on March 10, 1942, with the rank of Radioman 2nd Class. Arthur married Alice Dahlstrom on October 15, 1942 in San Francisco where he was stationed. He was commissioned in 1944 and served as an Educational Officer at the Naval Training School, in Chicago, IL. He was discharged February 13, 1946 with the rank of Lieutenant (jg). After returning to North Dakota Arthur worked as a bricklayer and foreman for Moline Construction Co. until his retirement in 1973.
Arthur enjoyed traveling with his wife and made many trips to Sweden to visit relatives. Arthur was an amateur radio operator (W0EOZ) from 1930 until his death. He built his own home in 1950 and enjoyed many years there. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and in his younger years golfing, hunting and fishing.
Arthur is survived by a daughter, Carol (Bill) Roberts, Helena, MT; son, Roy Jensen, Jamestown; two grandchildren, Karin Roberts, Lincoln, NE and Chris Roberts, Nashville, TN; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Luella) Jensen, Breckenridge, MN; and two sisters, Irene Jensen, Ft. Belvoir, VA and Patricia \""Pat\"" (Roger) Bartness, Williston, ND.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one daughter, Irene Lois.
