Audrey Gilbertson

Audrey Delores Gilbertson, 84, Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, with her family at her side.

Audrey Delores Johnson was born February 25, 1927 in Nome, ND, the daughter of Olaf and Mabel (Hagen) Johnson. She graduated from Nome High School. On January 4, 1948 Audrey married Gordon Gilbertson.

Audrey and Gordon farmed for many years near Kathryn, ND. She was also the General Store Manager and Postmistress in the town of Eastedge, ND. The family moved to Buchanan, ND, where Audrey stayed home to raise their children. The family then moved to Jamestown where she worked as a Medical Records Clerk for over 24 years at the North Dakota State Hospital, before retiring.

Audrey was active in the VFW Auxillary and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She liked to read, play bingo, cook and make quilts for her grandchildren.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Gordon, of 63 years, Jamestown; seven children, Linda (Bob Hoffbeck) Misemer, Jamestown, Sue (Bob Meyer) Gilbertson, Castle Rock, CO, Connie (Dan Thurlow) Gilbertson, Aurora, CO and Pam (Frank) Golde, Jamestown, Ken Gilbertson and Randy Gilbertson, both of Jamestown, and Paul (Kirstie) Gilbertson, Kill Devil Hills, NC; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Miranda Elling, Olean, NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and six sisters.

Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 3, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Suzanne Orlopp officiating.

Visitation: None scheduled

Burial: Waldheim Cemetery, Kathryn, North Dakota

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church or Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
