Baltzer W. Schlosser, 84, of Edgeley, ND, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure, ND, under hospice care.
Baltzer William Schlosser was born February 11, 1927, near Kintyre, ND, the son of Frank and Magdalena (Feist) Schlosser. When Baltzer was a young child, the family moved to a farm northeast of Edgeley where Baltzer received his education in rural schools. He entered the National Guard and after two years was activated with the US Army for two years during the Korean War. Baltzer married Bernice Senger on June 8, 1953 in Edgeley. They farmed north of Edgeley for two years, and then purchased a farm south of Edgeley. He was a successful farmer and business man for over 50 years until his retirement. Baltzer moved to St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure in 2010.
He was a member of the Transfiguration Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Edgeley. Baltzer enjoyed playing pinochle and visiting family.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be missed.
Baltzer is survived by three daughters, Claudia (Albert) Schumacher, Yankton, SD, Paula (Ted) Roers, West Fargo, ND, Donna (Brad) MacMaster, Detroit Lakes, MN; two sons, Neal (Patsy) Schlosser, Edgeley, and Steven (Renee) Schlosser, Monango, ND; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Magdalena Schlosser Wald, Edgeley and Mary Schlosser Wald, Edgeley; and three brothers, Casmier Schlosser, Edgeley, Joe (Nelda) Schlosser, Edgeley, and Valentine Schlosser, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; seven sisters; seven brothers; and one grandchild.
Eucharist of Christian Burial: 10:30am, Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND.
Vigil: 7:00pm, Monday, May 9, 2011 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley.
Visitation: 4:00pm-7:00pm, Monday, May 9, 2011 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley.
Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley.
Memorials: May be sent to Red River Valley Hospice.
