Barbara R. Grim, 78, Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND.
Barbara Rae Paulson was born August 29, 1931 in Valley City, ND, the daughter of Marcus Fredrick and Minnie E. (Norgaard) Paulson. She moved to Jamestown, ND with her parents where she attended school, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1949. After graduating, she attended North Dakota State University. On December 4, 1950, she married John R. Grim in Moorhead, MN and they made their home in Jamestown, ND. Barbara cared for the family while John was serving in the United States Navy. She designed and tailored clothing and also taught courses in tailoring. She worked briefly at the J.C. Penney's store in downtown Jamestown. In 1974, Barbara became the coordinator for home delivered meals, a position she held for 26 years at the James River Senior Citizens Center.
Barbara was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was both a dancer and a singer with the Norwegian Troll Dancers for many years. She loved opera, singing, enjoyed rummage sales and loved to design and sew, especially curtains, pillows and aprons.
Survivors include her husband, John, Jamestown, ND; 6 children: Mark J. (Carole Robinson) Grim, San Francisco, CA; Bradley M. (Mary E.) Grim, Fergus Falls, MN; Julie R. (Ken) Schmieding, Great Falls, MT; Robert S. (Sheila) Grim, Wolf Point, MT; William B. (Susanne) Grim, Farmington, MN; Nancy J. (Duane) Lang, Jamestown, ND; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Eunice (Ed) Nelson, Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marcus L. Paulson.
Memorial Service - 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND.
Interment - North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND
