Barbara Heinrich

Barbara Heinrich, 84, of Medina, ND, died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Valley Eldercare Nursing Home, Grand Forks, ND.

Barbara Leake was born August 16, 1922 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Edward and Almyra (Finnie) Leake. She grew up near Emerado, ND and graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks.

During World War II, Barbara worked as a welder in the shipyards in Seattle, WA to help with the war effort. She also worked as a bank teller in San Francisco, CA. Barbara returned to North Dakota and married Reinhold W. Heinrich on July 7, 1948. They farmed near Medina. Reinhold died on March 15, 1961.

Barbara worked as a nurses aid at the Jamestown Hospital for many years and later the North Dakota State Hospital. Barbara was a member of the English Lutheran Church, Medina.

Barbara is survived by one daughter, Mary Shearer, Grand Forks, ND; one brother, Allen Leake, Emerado, ND; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, John; two brothers, Weldon and Arnold Leake; and her parents.

Funeral Service: 10:30AM, Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at English Lutheran Church, Medina, ND with Rev. Christopher Hogstad officiating.

Visitation: Monday, June 11, 2007 from 1:00PM to 8:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND.
