Ben Meidinger

Ben Meidinger, 89, Edgeley, ND, formerly Wishek, ND, died at St. Rose Care Center, Lamoure, ND on Saturday, July 22, 2006.

Benjamin Meidinger was born on June 18, 1917 on the family farm near Wishek, ND, the son of Jacob and Christine (Schwink) Meidinger. He attended country school near his home and graduated from Wishek High School in 1940. He joined the U. S. Army in March, 1941. Following his discharge he returned to Wishek. Ben owned a gas station in Wishek for several years. He also owned a dry cleaning establishment, drove a Wishek School bus for many years and farmed on a farm south of Wishek. He married Edna Krein at Wishek in 1942. Edna died in 1986. On January 8, 1994 he married Faye Heim at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND and they moved to Edgeley where they resided since. He became a resident of Manor St. Joseph in Edgeley in 2004 and in 2005 he became a resident of St. Rose Care Center.

Survivors include his wife Faye; 1 grandson, Trampas Meidinger and 1 granddaughter, Tanja (Jason) Takacs, both Spearfish, SD; 2 great grandchildren, Kelsey and Kylie Takacs, both Spearfish; 1 brother, Elmer (Luella) Meidinger, Wishek, ND; 2 sisters, Martha Lutz and Erna (William) Kidroski, both Lodi, CA; 6 stepchildren, Maurus (Irene) Heim, Edgeley, ND, Kirk (Debbie) Heim, Jamestown, ND, Michael (Linda) Heim, Bismarck, ND, Maryette (Don) Hanson, Adrian, ND, Leanne (LeRoy) Wegenast, Jamestown, ND and Renay (Mark) Kalbus, Munich, ND; and 18 step grandchildren and 19 step great grandchildren. His parents; first wife; 1 son, Mark; 7 brothers, Adolph, Edward, August, Reinhold, Alvin, Paul and John and 3 sisters, Leah, Eva and Olga preceded him in death.


Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Wishek United Church of Christ with Reverend Tammy Toepke-Floyd officiating.
Prayer Service: 7:30 p.m. Monday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND.
Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley and 1 hour prior to services in the church on Tuesday.
Interment: Wishek Cemetery, Wishek, ND.
