Ben B. Meier, 78, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Triumph Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Ben was born February 2, 1933 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Michael and Ann (Lingor) Meier. He grew up and attended school in Devils Lake, graduating from Devils Lake High School. He took commercial pilot training with airplane and helicopter ratings. On October 27, 1952 Ben married Ann Hager in Devils Lake. They moved to Jamestown and Ben owned and operated Jamestown Aviation from 1963 to the present.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks 995, Eagles, American Legion, Jamestown El Zagel, Shriner Mystics, Royal Order of Jesters, the N.D. Ag Aviation Association and numerous Aviation Associations.

Ben's hobbies included anything that had to do with aviation, hunting, fishing, and playing bingo. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and visiting the casinos with family and friends.

Ben is survived by his wife, Ann, Jamestown; one son, Mark (Karen) Meier, Dallas, TX; three daughters, Sherry (Jim) Heyer, Fargo, ND, Debby Miedema and son-in-law, Darryl Miedema, both of Sarasota, FL and Amy (Tracy) Wallach, Fargo, ND; son-in-law, Darryl Miedema, Sarasota, FL; 12 grandchildren, Benjamin Meier, Steven (Lauren) Meier, Jamie (Jacob Moreno) Meier, Lisa (Justin) Reed, Dana (Jeremy) Majerus, Ryan (Lindsay) Heyer, Kylie (Jordon Vadnais) Heyer, Justin (Amy) Miedema, Tyson (Mark) Quire, Payson Wallach, Reagen Wallach and Brennan Wallach; 7 great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Mason, Callie, Gunner, Ella, Maxwell and Saige; two brothers, Richard (Kathy) Meier, Renier, OR and Robert (Karen) Meier, Devils Lake, ND and four sisters, Marge Graftaas, Spokane, WA, Betty Brown, Butte, MT, Bernice (Glen) Bailey, Spokane, WA and Ilene (Lynn) Johnson, Butte, MT.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother, Mike.
