Benita Zink, 96, Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Pingree, North Dakota died Saturday, October 22, 2005 in her home in Mesa.
Benita Gremm was born January 10, 1909 in Edmunds, North Dakota the daughter of Nicholas and Amelia Martha (Wentz) Gremm. She grew up in the Edmunds area and in her childhood years attended rural Edmunds school. Benita later attended and graduated from Carrington High School. Upon graduation Benita enrolled at Valley City State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. She taught school in the rural areas of Melville and Edmunds. Benita and Sherman Zink were married on October 31, 1931. They farmed and ranched in the Pingree and Edmunds area until their retirement. They moved to Arizona in 1994, where Sherman died in 1998.
Benita was a member of the Pingree Congregational Church, the Pingree Ladies Aid and the Sewing Club. Her hobbies included needlework, painting, gardening and card playing. She especially enjoyed playing the piano and organ.
Benita is survived by her daughter, Jane Trumble of Mesa, AZ; five grandchildren, LeAnn (Dan) Uehran, Pingree, Kirk (Cindy) Grimm, Jamestown, Dianne Zink, Kaulia Kona, HI, Karin (Lou) Gilpin, St. Helena, CA and Cammie (Chris Wheatley) Trumble, Mesa, AZ; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Duane Zink, one brother and one sister.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, October 28, 2005 at the Pingree Congregational Church with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 27, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, North Dakota.
