Berdell Wayne, 73, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at his home.

Berdell LeRoy Wayne was born on August 28, 1936 in Robinson, North Dakota, the son of Harold and Laura (Herman) Wayne. He was baptized on December 27, 1936 in Trinity Lutheran Church, New Home, Woodworth, ND, and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pettibone, ND on February 6, 1955. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Berdell worked with his father on the family farm and trucking business. He graduated from Robinson High School in 1954. Berdell married Lou Ann Vaugh on December 14, 1957 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pettibone, ND. He had been a resident of Jamestown since 1959. He was employed by Super Valu retail grocery stores in Jamestown. In 1985 he became a Moving Consultant and continued working for Allied Van Lines until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed seven winters at their home in Bullhead City, AZ.

Berdell enjoyed painting murals and lettering. He was elected and completed a term on the Jamestown City Council. He enjoyed being in the sun and driving his convertibles. His miniature Eskimo, Cassie, brought him lots of joy.

Berdell is survived by his wife, Lou Ann, Jamestown; daughter, Belinda Ruud (Dave Jones), Fargo, ND; son, Kevin (Julie) Wayne, Jamestown; four grandchildren, Shilo (Patrick) Hilgers, Orlando, FL, Shawn Taxis, Fargo, Justin Wayne, Fargo, and Chelsey Wayne, Grand Forks, ND: two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Annabelle Hilgers; mother, Laura Wayne, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown; two sisters, Carole (Jack) Wahl, Billings, MT and Charlene (Roger) Schmidt, Maple Grove, MN; one brother, Darwin (Dora) Wayne, Detroit, MI; sisters-in-law, Ramona Abraham (Patrick Rafferty), Ella Jean (Allen) Kamoni, and Lois Guthmiller, all of Pettibone, ND.

He was preceded in death by his father.
