Bernard Fandrich

Bernard Fandrich, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Mr. Fandrich was born September 25, 1922 near Burnstad, North Dakota, the son of John and Lydia (Pritzkau) Fandrich. He received his education in Burnstad, northwest of Wishek, ND and worked on the family farm. On June 22, 1947 Bernard married Esther Diegel in Wishek. He continued to farm for a number of years before moving to Kulm, ND, where he worked for Farmers Union for 25 years. They moved to Jamestown in 1992, where their home has been since.

Bernard was a member of the Kulm Fire Department, Germans from Russia; and Zion Lutheran Church in Kulm and served on the church council. He was currently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.

Bernard is survived by his wife, Esther, Jamestown; four sons, James (Mary Louise), Roseville, MN, Jeff (Heidi), Marion, ND, Mark (Kara), Plymouth, MN, and Perry, Fairview, OR; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, John C. (Vangie) Fandrich, Fargo, ND; and three sisters, Agnes Wheatley, Opelika, AL, Marcella Rudolph, Oakdale, CA and Judy (Jerry) Skoglund, Sonora, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Rose (Fiest) Fandrich; son, Stanley; and half-brother, Ronald Pritzkau.
