Bernard Stroh, 81, Jamestown, ND, formerly Adrian, ND died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Rock of Ages Nursing Home, Jamestown ND.
Bernard Henry Stroh was born November 19, 1924 at Jamestown, ND, the son of Edward and Freda (Klein) Stroh. He was raised on the family farm near Eckelson, ND and attended the Island Lake School, south of Eckelson. He farmed with his parents until 1944 when his father died. On June 13, 1945, he married Harriet Calkins at Dickey, ND. They farmed on the Calkins family farm for 1 year while Harriet's father was out west working in the shipyards. They then moved to a farm north of Spiritwood, ND for 1 year and to a farm south of Spiritwood where they lived until 1957. In 1957, they purchased a farm 2 miles west of Adrian, ND where he farmed, raised hogs, stock cattle and milked cows. He later started a dairy with his son, Duane, where they lived until retiring in 1985 when they moved into Adrian. In 2002, they moved to Jamestown, ND.
Bernard was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church, Dickey, ND, a member of Adrian-Dickey Friendly Folks Senior Citizens, Montpelier Senior Citizens and a Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus # 1883, Jamestown, ND. He enjoyed league bowling, playing cards, watching Bonanza and belonged to the Old Time Tractor Pull Association until he gave it up for health reasons.
Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Peggy (Bob) Roehrich, Valley City, ND, and Carol (Tim) Staiger, Jamestown, ND; 2 sons, Edward (Kate), Jamestown, ND and Duane (Karen), Adrian, ND; 8 grandchildren: Scott (Carina) Roehrich, Valley City, ND, Jamie (Pat) Richter, Walker, MN, Tiffany (Mike) Menschel, West Fargo, ND, Andrea Staiger, Eden Prairie, MN, Justin Stroh and Kyle Stroh, Fargo, ND, Waylen Stroh, Adrian, ND and Melissa Stroh, Jamestown, ND; 7 great-grandchildren, Desiree and Austin Richter, Walker, MN, Brandon Zaun, Brienne and Britta Roehrich, Valley City, ND and Mathieu and McKenzie Menschel, West Fargo, ND, and 1 brother Joseph (Betty), Jamestown, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, Bernadine Englehart, Agnes (Tootie) Rodgers, Cis (Bernice) Hesch, Amanda Lobsinger; 1 brother, Wilbert Stroh; 1 grandson, Travis, and 1 great grandson, Collin.
Funeral Service - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Assumption Catholic Church, Dickey, ND.
Knights of Columbus Rosary - 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church in Dickey on Saturday.
