Bernice Justine Kipp

Bernice Kipp, 86, Edgeley, ND, died Friday, June 6, 2008 at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure, ND.

Bernice Justine Scherweit was born November 7, 1921 in Mapleton, ND, the daughter of Charles and Frieda (Rhode) Scherweit. She attended school in Mapleton, ND. After graduating from high school in 1939, she attended a hairdressing academy in Fargo, ND and then moved to Edgeley, ND where she worked at the Edgeley Beauty Shop. On December 24, 1944, she married Orris "Bud" Kipp in Edgeley, ND where they made their home.


Bernice was an active member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND. She was involved in various women's clubs, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, enjoyed playing golf at the Edgeley Country Club and playing cards with family and friends. After Bud retired, they spent their winters in Mesa, AZ for over 20 years.

Bernice is survived by her husband; 2 sons: Duane (Marilyn) Kipp, Mandan, ND; Dean (Tracy) Kipp, Wahpeton, ND; 7 grandchildren: Dana, Daren, Renee, Steve, Mason, Allison and Carter; 7 great-grandchildren: Dalton, Tyler, Katie, Brandon, Christian, Hanna and Sophia and a sister, Dorothy Hoffmann, Casselton, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and a sister.


Memorial Service - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND
Interment - Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND
Memorials - In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Edgeley Ambulance Fund.
