Bernice Odenbach

Bernice Odenbach, 90, Carrington, ND, formerly of Woodworth, ND died Monday, June 21, 2004 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington.

Bernice Brophy was born August 29, 1913 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada the daughter of Dr. W.T. and Gena (Thompson) Brophy. She moved with her family to Harvey, North Dakota where she graduated from Harvey High School. Bernice attended Minot Teachers College and earned her teaching degree and later earned her B.A. in Education from Valley City State University. She taught at Goldwin country schools, near Woodworth. Bernice married Donald A. Odenbach on May 31, 1936 in Woodworth. She taught at Valley Springs school, then at Woodworth Public school. Bernice also taught at Carrington public school, then Eldridge school before retiring.

Bernice and Donald supported Woodworth High school athetics for many years, for which they were recognized. Donald died December 24, 1994.

Bernice is survived by five sons, Donald, Jr. (Ruth) Odenbach and Gene (Marlene) Odenbach of Woodworth, ND; Raymond (Sally) Odenbach and Robert (LaRue) Odenbach, Pingree, ND and Allen (Jan) Odenbach, Fargo, ND, one daughter, Sally (Sutin) Sorawat of Grand Forks, ND, fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Walter and Wilfred Brophy; three sisters, Rose Fredrickson, Minerva Anderson, and Nancy Brophy; and two daughters-in-law, Doris Odenbach and Marcia Odenbach.

Funeral Service: 10:30AM Thursday, June 24, 2004 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Woodworth, ND with Rev. Mark Schlamann officiating.

Visitation: Wednesday, June 23, 2004 from 9:00AM to 9:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
