Bertha Belz

Bertha Belz, 95, Jamestown, ND, formerly Edgeley, ND died Monday, July 9, 2007 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND.
Bertha Anna Belz was born November 17, 1911 on a farm near Diesem, ND the daughter of Fred and Emma (Belz) Schardin. She attended school for 2 years at Diesem, then the Ray Township School and later Bluebird Township School. Bertha worked on the farm with her family until they moved to Edgeley in 1961. She worked at the Red Owl Grocery Store in Edgeley for a few years and also cared for her elderly parents and other members of her family as they became aged. She moved to Jamestown in 1989 and became a resident of Central Dakota Village in 2005.
Bertha was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND. She was baptized at Zion as a baby and has been a member since that time. She was a Godmother to Violet Podenski, Claudette Williams and Kathy Killion.
Bertha enjoyed raising African violets, word puzzles and crocheting.
Survivors include 3 sisters, Violet Podenski, Edgeley, ND, Lelia Schardin, Jamestown, ND; Alyce (Harold) Kurtz, Edgeley, ND and nieces and nephews: Claudette (Jerry) Williams, Lenexa, KA; Gregory (Peggy) Kurtz, Sioux Falls, SD; Denise (Larry) Podenski-Spanjer, Bismarck, ND; Daureen (Gene) Podenski-Shippey, Lawrenceville, NJ and Dalanne L. Podenski, Lincoln, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND.
Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND
Visitation: 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND.
Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.
