Bertha Roemmich

January 21, 1921 — June 13, 2019

Bertha Roemmich, 98, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Tappen, ND, passed away Thursday morning, June 13, 2019 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

Bertha was born January 21, 1921, at Tappen, the daughter of Simon and Katarina (Mittleider) Pfaff. She attended country school in the Tappen area and grew up on the family farm. She learned a strong work ethic at a young age, which she carried throughout her life. Bertha married Emil R. Roemmich on October 8, 1940 in Steele, ND. They lived on farms in the Tappen area. They moved into Tappen where Bertha cooked for the Tappen Public School and was a personal care giver for several area residents. They later moved to Jamestown where she worked for Hi-Acres Manor and the Gladstone Inn. She enjoyed baking and reading.

Bertha was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church and St. John’s Evangelical Women in Tappen and Jamestown Evangelical Church, and later St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jamestown.

Bertha is survived by three sons, Thilmer (Susan) Roemmich, Jamestown, Darold (Lenora) Roemmich, Jamestown, and Marvin (Karen) Roemmich, Eldridge, ND; daughter, Violet Moreland, Jamestown, and Viona (David) Gienger, Jamestown; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Marcy Pfaff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Jake, John, Simon Jr., David, Art, and Elmer; sisters, Mary and Esther; and great-grandson, J.D.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2019 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2019 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Joel Winckler officiating.

Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
