Bertha Wegner, 98, Jamestown, North Dakota died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.
Bertha Suko was born November 30, 1907 in Logan County, North Dakota the daughter of Reinhold and Christina (Obenauer) Suko. She grew up on the family farm southeast of Cleveland, ND and was educated in Alexander township schools. Bertha married Gottfried Wegner on December 17, 1926 near Alfred, ND. They farmed south of Windsor, ND until their retirement in 1971. They moved to Jamestown where they enjoyed their retirement years. Gottfried died on February 14, 1993.
Bertha was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Jamestown. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and canning the results of her efforts and she especially loved flowers.
Bertha is survived by four sons: Melvin (Agnes) Wegner; David Wegner; Elroy (Edress) Wegner and Clifford (Cheryl) Wegner, all of Jamestown, two daughters: Violet Mae (Ernest) Williams, Cleveland and Lorene (Ronald) Wanzek, Jamestown, 27 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, four sisters: Ruth Gomke, Cleveland; Minnie Hoff, Jamestown; Rose Reich, Montana and Dorothy Grenz, Jamestown and two brothers, Edwin (Loretta) Suko and Martin (Helen) Suko, both of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Amelia Gohner and Louise Rogers,two brothers, Samuel and Gotthilf and one great-grandson, Jamar Dillard.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 29, 2006 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Jamestown with Rev. Vernon Bader officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
