Betty Larson, 93, Courtenay, ND, died Monday, December 25, 2006 at Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks, ND.
Elizabeth "Betty" Elaine Schoeler was born October 6, 1913 on the family farm in Courtenay, ND, the daughter of Herman and Justine (Natsche) Schoeler. She was raised on the farm in Courtenay and attended a rural school and later Courtenay High School, graduating in 1929. Following her graduation, she worked as a waitress and a seamstress in both Fargo, ND and California. On February 6, 1945, she married Selmer J. Larson in Fargo, ND and they settled in Courtenay, ND. Betty was a secretary for the Courtenay Public Schools and served as clerk for the Village of Courtenay. Selmer died in May of 1991. Betty continued to live in Courtenay, in the same home for 62 years.
Betty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Courtenay, ND, the St. Mary's Altar Society, the Young At Heart Senior Citizens of Courtenay and volunteered as a 4H leader for many years.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Sally (Robert) Horner, Grand Forks, ND; Sharon (John) Heinz, Lee's Summit, MO; 4 grandchildren: Brian and Bobbi, Grand Forks, ND; Carla, Green Valley, MO; Mike (Amber), Lee's Summit, MO and a sister, Charlotte "Lottie" Schweitzer, Jamestown, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: Alan and Arnold and 2 sisters: Evelyn and Anna.
Funeral - 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2006 at St. John's Catholic Church, Kensal, ND with Father Steve Meyer officiating.
Visitation - 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Interment - St. Mary's Cemetery, Courtenay, ND
