Betty J. Sand

Betty Sand, 71, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Jamestown Hospital.

Betty J. Alveshere was born May 30, 1937 in Hurdsfield, North Dakota to John and Bernice (Eckman) Alveshere. She was baptized in July 1937 in the Lutheran church and confirmed in 1951. Betty was raised in Harvey, ND until moving to Jamestown in 1954. She attended school and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1956. On June 9, 1958 Betty married Warren Sand in Fargo, North Dakota. She worked at Northwestern Bell for twenty-five plus years. Betty also worked at Western Auto as a bookkeeper for two years, McDonalds for twelve years and part-time at the Jamestown Truck Stop for four years. Betty volunteered for many organizations and was a member of the Birthday Club, Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Amvets Auxiliary in Fargo. She was also a previous member of the Roaming Buffalo Camp Club and Square Dancers Club. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her grandchildren, embroidering and visiting with many of her coffee customers.

She is survived by her husband, Warren, Jamestown; two sons, Dennis Sand, Lisa Sand, Douglas (Sherry) Sand, all of Jamestown; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Ed) Jackson, Kristy Sand, Kyle Sand, Sierra Sand and Skyler Sand; and one sister, Joyce Neva, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and brother-in-law, Kenneth.

Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Monday, September 8, 2008 at Eddy Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bryce Tahran, officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Prayer Service: 5:00 PM, Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
